LaMar is a seven year veteran forward of the NBA/ABA (1969-79; Phoenix Suns, New Orleans Jazz and Virginia Squires). LaMar was first team Ohio Valley Conference for three years and is an engineering graduate of Morehead State University, KY. In his senior year at Morehead, he averaged 22 rebounds per game which was third in the nation. LaMar was the third round draft choice of the NBA Phoenix Suns in 1969 where he played for five seasons. In 1974 he was picked by the New Orleans Jazz in the expansion draft and played one year for that organization. LaMar completed his basketball career with the ABA Virginia Squires in 1975-76. Beginning in 1975, LaMar was a co-creator and an implementer of the Concerned Pro Athletes in Action program. This program keyed in on the instant affinity youth has with the professional athlete, to initiate proactive initiatives via the Stay in School program, Positive Decision Making and Reading Is Fundamental. After basketball, LaMar worked for the State of Illinois for 17 years as the Minority Business Advocate, assisting in the development of minority owned businesses in the State. He has also continued his work with counseling youth toward making positive life decisions. Currently residents of Chicago, LaMar and his wife Sandi are the owners of Re-An Investments, LLC, specializing in real estate acquisition, rehab and management. They both are avid golfers and they have two children in college, Tatiana and Terrence.
