MICHAEL DOWNS

         


Michael was born in Dallas and graduated from South Oak Cliff High School in Dallas, Texas. During high school, Mr. Downs was a member of the Honor Society. He participated in sports and served as team captain of the football team and was selected as All-District in football. Further, he was a Letterman in Track and Field.
Mr. Downs graduated from Rice University in 1981. He received a BA in Business Management, Political Science and Physical Education. While in college he was selected as All-Southwest conference and All-American honorable mention in football as well as having served as team captain.
After graduation, Mr. Downs signed with the Dallas Cowboys as a free agent. He was the third rookie in Cowboys history to begin the season as a starter. Michael was selected as All-Pro in 1984 and All-NFC in 1984 & 1985. He led the team in tackles for three seasons and led the team in interceptions for two. Michael served as team captain for the Cowboys in 1984 and 1985.
